Did you know you can use iOS’s Siri to read and reply to emails? You can, and in this column I’m going to show you just how easy it is. Siri can fill in the recipient, the subject line, and take dictation for what you want to say. If you have more than one email address, she’ll even ask you which one you want to use.
Use Siri to read your Email
Step 1: Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone or iPad or say “Hey, Siri” to activate Siri.
Step 2: Ask Siri to “Read my unread emails“. Siri now checks for new emails and gives you a brief audio overview of them.
Step 3: Click on any email in order to view it directly in the “Mail” app.
Note: You can also ask Siri to check for unread emails from a specific contact. For example, you could ask “Do I have any new emails from Rene?”
Use Siri to reply to your Email
Step 1: Launch the “Mail” app from your home screen.
Step 2: Click on the “Inbox“.
Step 3: Click on the email you would like to respond to.
Step 4: Press and hold the “Home” button or say “Hey, Siri” to activate Siri.
Step 5: Ask Siri to “Respond to this email“.
Step 6: Tell Siri what you would like the email to say.
Step 7: When you are done and happy with the email, tell Siri to send the message. Or Click “Send”

Note: You can also respond to an email that Siri is reading to you. While the email subject is being read, press the microphone icon on your screen to activate Siri’s listening mode and say, “Respond.” Siri will automatically start a response to that email.
As Apple continues to improve Siri, she becomes more and more useful, and these two techniques are great examples of how helpful she can be. Being able to read an email or reply to one without stopping to type it out is not something you’ll need all the time, but when you do, you’ll be thankful it’s there.
