Problem:

If you sign a lot of documents that are sent to you electronically in PDF format, you can save a lot of time by using a PDF stamp of your signature. This way you can simply stamp the document, flatten it, and return the document electronically instead of printing, signing with a pen, and scanning the signed the document. The problem is that if the signature stamp has a white background instead. If you check the email's source code (by right-clicking the email body and choosing View Source from the shortcut menu), you can see that your image was not embedded but linked:

• So what you need is an image of twice the size that you want on the screen. For example, if you want your logo to be 124x48 width and height, create an image of 248x28. What this does is, it doubles the image resolution and quadruples the number of pixels.

Solution:

In recent versions of Outlook, images added to emails (and to Outlook's email signature templates) are sometimes not embedded but linked. Such linked images are not displayed unless the resource in which they are kept is a location available to the message recipient.

To solve this issue, you can enable image embedding in Outlook by modifying your Windows registry. To do so, follow the steps below.

Be aware that editing the Windows registry may be a risky operation. By doing it incorrectly, you can damage your operating system or lose your data. If you do not have any previous experience in using Windows Registry Editor, ask an IT professional to help you.

1. Open Windows Registry Editor (run regedit.exe via the Start menu).

2. Open the following key:

   where X is the version of Outlook you are using.

   Be advised that Outlook 2016 is 16, but Outlook 2013 is 15 and not 13.

3. Find the following subkey and open it (if it does not exist, create it):

7. Restart your Outlook.
8. Now, if you send an email and add an inline picture, this picture will be embedded by Outlook and will be visible to the recipient.

Sometimes, when inserting an image in an Outlook email, the image will be resized automatically. This method will guide you to open the image you will insert at first, and then insert the image with the Screen Clipping feature in Outlook. Please do as follows:

1. In your computer, open the folder containing the image you will insert, and then double click to open the image in the Photos viewer.

2. Adjust the zoom to 100% for viewing the image in actual size.

3. Go to the Mail view in Outlook, create a new email with clicking Home > New Email.

5. Drag the mouse to select the whole image displaying in the Photos viewer.

Now the image is inserted into the message body with its actual size.

6. Compose the email and send it, and then close the Photos viewer.

Insert images with actual size by adjusting image’s size manually in Outlook

Sometimes, you may have inserted the image into a composing email by clicking Insert > Pictures, and the image has been resized. And now you can restore the image’ actual size with below steps.

1. Go to the folder containing the inserted image, right click the image and select Properties from the right-clicking menu. See screenshot:

2. In the opening Properties dialog box, go to the Details tab, and find out this image resolution. In our case, the image’s resolution is 300 dpi. See screenshot above.

Note: You can close the Properties dialog box after getting the image’s resolution.

3. Return to the Message window in Outlook. Click the inserted image to activate the Picture Tools, and then click the anchor at the bottom-right corner of the Size group on the Format tab. See screenshot:

4. In the opening Layout dialog box, go to the Scale section, type the adjusting percentage into both Height and Width boxes, and click the OK button. See screenshot:

In our case, the adjusting percentage is 312.5% (=300/96*100%, 300 is the inserted image’s resolution we got in Step 1-2).

So far the inserted image has been adjusted to its actual size already.

5. Compose the email and send it.
